In October 2017, I was commissioned by the King County Library System to design some buttons for a queer teens’ group Halloween/Drag party. I met with the teens and their supervisor and sat in on a few of their meetings. We worked together to come up with concepts that worked for the event but could also be repurposed for future events, and I offered ideas on how to make their party run smoothly. I came up with 2 event specific designs (with a very basic event logo), a few Superlatives designs (to be awarded to different categories of winners in the costume contest and customized on the spot with markers before being pressed), and a set of Pride Flag buttons that could be used whenever needed. It was nice working with members of the local queer community on this project, and I look forward to doing more work of this type.
